AN ODE TO SPANIEL OWNERS

Most Spaniels are splendid, selfless and speedy,

But not, it  must be said, particularly sleepy.

Our 3 mile runs may cause a slight puff,

But a  few minutes later, that’s not nearly enough!

All that tires a Spaniel, I reckon,

Are reed beds, rivers and plenty of bracken.

It’s sniffing that sorts them, and bounding, and seeking,

And huge grassy meadows with places for peeking.

So, to the owners of Spaniels who live deep in cities,

I raise my hat in awe, you must be well serious fitties!!
