The Houses of Mutt

House of Mutt Houses are all beautiful country houses with space for dogs to explore and firesides for them to fall asleep in front of. Beyond those what we call ‘basics’, each has a specialisation that ensures every dog’s, and dog owner’s, need is catered for within the House of Mutt family.

Old Rectory

The original House of Mutt house, and the one on which all our boarding is now modelled. A large and spacious 18th century Rectory set within 12 acres of gardens and fenced paddocks on the Grafton family’s Euston Estate in Suffolk. River frontage on to the meandering and very dog-friendly River Blackburn is great for cooling off in summer and exploring at every time of the year. The Old Rectory has high ceilings, chandeliers, woodburners and large squashy sofas in every room - dog paradise!

The Gables

A lovely old house in the centre of a pretty Norfolk village, surrounded by six acres of fenced fields and paddocks, and the most beautiful formal parterre gardens. Plenty of box hedges and gravel paths for dogs to explore, leading down to large lawns (which are not allowed to be dug up please!!) Inside, there’s an Aga to snuggle up against, and countless squashy old sofas.

Dogs are walked on or off-lead both on the property and in nearby woods and forestry, where there are miles of fabulous tracks to explore.

Meadow Farm

A pretty little farm in Norfolk where nature and art coexist to create a wonderful environment for dogs and lots of perfect posing opportunities for owners wanting to commission a portrait while their dog is away! Indoors there are five sofas to choose from, piles of velvet and faux fur luxury, woodburners to snuggle up to in winter, and plenty of tiled cooler areas for summer. Outside there’s a delightful raised-bed kitchen garden, an art studio, several lawns and a network of paths and tracks where dogs can be walked on-lead. Off-lead, dogs are walked in the fenced meadow and woodland areas, where enrichment opportunities abound and dogs who are perhaps not usually allowed off lead can relax and enjoy the feeling of freedom whilst still being in an enclosed area.

Main Barn

A lovely airy barn conversion in rural Norfolk, with 2,000 acres of farmland and woodland to explore, as well as a herd of cows and a gaggle (?) of geese in the neighbouring farmyard to act as training aides to dogs that need them! A beautiful, tranquil setting, well away from any roads and with nature and fields all around. Evenings are spent relaxing in front of the huge woodburner in the main sitting room, or playing bagsie for the best bed in the house overlooking the driveway and farmland beyond. Main Barn's gardens are completely enclosed as is the two acre Enrichment paddock beyond, where those not up for the full 2,000 acres can mooch, explore, sniff and tackle the various woodland obstacles at their own pace. With proprietor, Judith, having been a Vet Nurse for over 15 years, Main Barn has everything dogs and owners need to relax and enjoy their holidays!

Valley Farm

A delightful 10 acre smallholding in Suffolk with very pretty gardens and a variety of tracks winding through fully fenced woodland, meadowland and pasture. The farmhouse has a huge kitchen, squashy sofas galore, plenty of fireside space and a huge expanse of cooler tiled areas where the family's Bernese Mountain Dog leads the way for dogs wanting cool spaces! Valley Farm is ideal for larger dogs and dogs who enjoy fresh air and exercise without necessarily feeling the need to fitten up for the Olympics!

Bowers Farm

A lovely four acre farm, once home to the family’s horses but now entirely set up for dogs and their desires! Fenced meadowland and hedgerows to explore, set aside training areas perfect for livestock and game training, and extensive gardens perfect for lounging in between training sessions.

Inside, a huge farmhouse kitchen dominates the ground floor with French Windows at one end opening out on to the gardens and an orangerie at the other for dogs (or people!) seeking sun spots and space to themselves.

Sharon’s own working Field Trial winning Labradors are on hand to provide inspiration and example – which they do with great grace, despite having to watch guests head into the kitchen as they settle into their (admittedly very luxiourious) kennel extension outside!

Spot Farm

Spot Farm is a recently renovated 18th century farmhouse, set within 500 acres of fields, woodlands, paths and ponds, giving dogs a real taste of Country Life!

Enclosed fencing throughout the farm allows dogs to adventure off lead safely and happily. With an open-plan kitchen/living/dining room, lovely drawing and reception rooms, woodburners, underfloor heating - and a wing for muddy dogs to dry in after all those walks, Spot Farm is pretty much everything you could want!

The coast and miles of Norfolk sandy beaches are also within a short drive, so a regular for Abbi and her dogs.
